Village Litter Pick – 10am Saturday 22nd February – Great Success

February 21, 2020 12:00 pm Published by Leave your thoughts

A huge thank you to you all for turning out on Saturday – the challenging winds, the rain and the sunshine – and a huge amount of rubbish collected for Serco to collect Monday With 18 of us involved – c 3% of the village – we have had a great result today. Some waded in literally and beyond the call of duty. Others identified significant fly-tipping in Cutthroat Lane.

Based on the success this morning I suggest we propose to the Parish Council to do a further 3 litter picks this year – say April, June or July and then October in the autumn – let me know your thoughts.

The Breckland website link to report fly-tipping, environmental issues (such as sewage contaminated ditch as this morning) is https://www.breckland.gov.uk/reportit  This enables you to report an issue and show on a map where it is (a good post code to use to get to the right map is NR19 1RP at the centre of the parish). Serco should then respond with days if not hours. Email the Parish Clerk yaxhamparishclerk@gmail.com to let her know you’ve reported an incident, and follow-up to the Clerk if the matters has not been resolved and then Vicky and I can chase this up with Breckland.

Thanks again – Ian Martin, Parish Council Chairman
