Planning Success! Dumpling Green Application Refused!

This application was refused at Breckland’s Planning Committee meeting on 13th January.

This was for a large site at Dumpling Green for 255 homes off the Yaxham Road entrance to Dereham. It was made by Hopkins Homes which started in 2010 and only in the last 9 months has it gained pace – and was finally refused, after over an hour’s discussion.

Yaxham’s Breckland Cllr Ian Martin led the Yaxham contingent speaking which included Parish Cllrs Bob Gust and Chris Couves. They united with Dereham Breckland Cllrs Alison Webb and Philip Morton, and the Town Council’s Clerk, Tony Needham. In the face of Breckland Officers’ recommendation to refuse – our team made the case on highways, surface water contamination and flood risk (especially with Badley Moor SSSI/SAC and the River Tud), and that it conflicted with a core policy in Breckland’s newly adopted Local Plan. After extensive discussion the Committee voted to refuse this application.

A great success for Yaxham, Dereham and local communities.
